Artist Statement

Raymond Keprta

When it became time for me to expand my life creatively, ceramics proved to be the perfect medium to build upon my professional background in geology and mechanical engineering.  My knowledge of minerology, thermodynamics, design, and a lifetime of building and tinkering makes pottery a satisfying and challenging medium within which to work.  I have been involved in ceramics since 2005 and have studied under ceramists Janet Rodriguez and Roy Odom, both based in Fort Worth.   I am constantly looking forms and textures to add to my clay work.  I make my own glazes as well as many of my own forms, templates, and tools.  I enjoy and appreciate the uniqueness of handmade products and artwork.  Art should be a part of everyone’s immediate surroundings.  When I see someone fall in love with one of my pieces, I know I have provided joy to someone through my art.
